Reel Adventure Booking — Privacy Policy
Effective Date: January 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Reel Adventure Booking collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information obtained through the Reel Adventure Booking website, booking platform, mobile interfaces, captain onboarding systems, and related services, including the Platform blog and marketing pages. It also explains the rights and choices available to individuals whose personal information is processed through the Platform.
By accessing or using the Platform, creating an account, submitting personal information, making a Booking, listing a Trip, or otherwise interacting with Reel Adventure Booking, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to the data practices described in it. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of the Platform.
1. Introduction and Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected and processed by Reel Adventure Booking in connection with Customer use of the Platform to browse and book Trips, Captain and Operator use of the Platform to list and conduct Trips, payment processing and payout services, identity and compliance verification, storage of licensing and insurance documentation, communications through Platform messaging tools, and engagement with the Reel Adventure Booking blog and marketing features.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to independent websites or services operated by Captains, Operators, or third parties outside the Platform. It also does not govern Stripe's independent data practices, which are subject to Stripe's own privacy policies.
This Privacy Policy must be read together with the Customer Booking Terms and Conditions and the Captain and Operator Listing Terms and Conditions. If any conflict arises between this Privacy Policy and applicable law, the legal requirement controls.
2. Information We Collect
Reel Adventure Booking collects personal information in order to operate the Platform, facilitate Bookings and Trips, verify Captains and Operators, process payments and payouts, maintain marketplace safety, and comply with legal obligations. The information collected varies depending on how you interact with the Platform, whether as a Customer, Captain, Operator, or blog subscriber.
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you create an account, make a Booking, list a Trip, or communicate through the Platform, you may provide personal information such as your name, email address, telephone number, account credentials, and other contact details. Customers also provide Booking information, passenger details, Trip preferences, and emergency contact information where applicable.
Captains and Operators provide additional information during onboarding and verification. This includes identity details, business information, licensing credentials, Merchant Mariner documentation, vessel registration records, insurance certificates, and related compliance materials. You may also provide written communications, messages, reviews, support inquiries, and other content submitted through Platform tools.
You are responsible for ensuring that the information you submit is accurate, current, and complete.
2.2 Payment and Payout Information
Payments on the Platform are processed through Stripe. When Customers make payments, Stripe collects and processes payment card or bank information directly. Reel Adventure Booking does not store full card numbers or bank account numbers. The Platform may retain limited payment references, transaction identifiers, and payment status information necessary to confirm Bookings, manage refunds, and address disputes.
Captains and Operators provide banking and payout details to Stripe Connect in order to receive funds. Stripe processes and stores this information in accordance with its own security and privacy practices. Reel Adventure Booking receives payout status information and related transaction data necessary for operational and accounting purposes.
2.3 Identity Verification Information
The Platform uses Stripe Identity and related verification services to confirm the identity of Captains and Operators. Stripe may collect identity documents, photographs, and verification data. Reel Adventure Booking receives verification results, timestamps, and compliance status information but does not receive or store full identity document images unless otherwise required for compliance or audit purposes.
2.4 Automatically Collected Information
When you access the Platform, certain information is collected automatically. This may include your device type, browser type, operating system, IP address, approximate location, pages viewed, links clicked, session activity, and referring or exit pages. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies to support Platform functionality, security monitoring, performance optimization, and analytics.
2.5 Communications and Support Records
The Platform may store messages exchanged between Customers and Captains, as well as communications with Platform support. These records are retained to provide customer service, resolve disputes, investigate safety concerns, prevent fraud, and enforce Platform policies.
2.6 Blog and Marketing Subscriptions
If you subscribe to the Reel Adventure Booking blog or marketing communications, the Platform collects your name, email address, and subscription preferences. This information is used to deliver newsletters, promotional content, and platform updates, subject to your opt out rights.
2.7 Information from Third Parties
Reel Adventure Booking may receive information from third party service providers such as Stripe, identity verification vendors, analytics providers, and hosting partners. This information may include payment confirmations, verification status, fraud risk indicators, and technical performance data used to operate and secure the Platform.
3. How We Use Information
Reel Adventure Booking uses personal information to operate the Platform, facilitate Bookings and Trip delivery, verify Captains and Operators, process payments and payouts, protect users and the marketplace, and comply with legal obligations. The specific uses depend on how you interact with the Platform and which features you choose to use.
3.1 Providing and Operating the Platform
We use personal information to provide core Platform functionality, including creating and managing user accounts, enabling Customers to browse and book Trips, enabling Captains and Operators to create Listings and manage availability, and supporting communications and coordination related to Trip logistics. This includes using your information to display Listings, confirm Booking details, send scheduling updates, and facilitate Trip-related interactions.
3.2 Facilitating Bookings, Payments, and Payouts
We use information to process and administer Bookings, including confirming transactions, tracking payment status, issuing receipts, and initiating refunds where applicable. Because payments are processed through Stripe, we use payment-related references, transaction identifiers, and payment status information to manage Bookings, handle disputes, and reconcile Platform records.
For Captains and Operators, we use information to support Stripe Connect payout flows, including onboarding status, verification status, payout confirmations, payout failures, and resolution of payout issues. We also use the information necessary to calculate, apply, and retain Platform fees where applicable.
3.3 Identity, Eligibility, and Compliance Verification
We use information to evaluate eligibility to use Captain and Operator features and to maintain compliance and safety standards. This includes using identity verification status, licensing credentials, vessel documentation, and insurance documentation to determine whether a Captain or Operator may list Trips, accept Bookings, and remain active on the Platform.
We may also use this information to conduct periodic re-verification, confirm ongoing validity of credentials, and enforce requirements relating to expired, suspended, or invalid documents.
3.4 Safety, Fraud Prevention, and Platform Integrity
We use personal information to protect users and the Platform, including preventing fraud, reducing chargebacks, detecting suspicious activity, enforcing non-circumvention rules, and investigating alleged misconduct. This may include analyzing activity patterns, reviewing communications made through Platform tools, and using technical and usage data to detect security threats, unauthorized access attempts, or abusive behavior.
We also use information to investigate safety incidents and complaints, coordinate responses to reports of misconduct, and support measures intended to protect Customers and Captains.
3.5 Customer Support and Dispute Resolution
We use information to respond to inquiries, provide technical support, resolve disputes, and address complaints. This includes reviewing Booking records, payment status, cancellation events, communications, and other relevant data to evaluate claims and assist with resolution. We may also use this information to provide Customer service to Captains and Operators relating to Listing issues, payout issues, and compliance submissions.
3.6 Communications and Transactional Notices
We use your contact information to send transactional communications necessary to provide the Platform services. These communications include Booking confirmations, reminders, Trip updates, cancellation notices, failed payment notices, payout notifications, and important Platform policy or security notices.
These communications are operational in nature and are not marketing messages.
3.7 Marketing and Promotional Communications
Where permitted by law and subject to your choices, we use personal information to send marketing communications, newsletters, promotional offers, and Platform updates. This includes communications related to blog subscriptions and marketing lists. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time as described in this Privacy Policy. Opting out of marketing messages does not affect your receipt of transactional communications.
3.8 Analytics, Product Improvement, and Platform Performance
We use automatically collected information and aggregated data to understand how the Platform is used, improve user experience, develop new features, optimize search and listing tools, troubleshoot technical issues, monitor performance, and maintain security. We may also use de-identified or aggregated data for business analytics, reporting, and platform planning.
3.9 Legal Obligations and Enforcement
We use personal information to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our agreements and policies. This may include using information to comply with tax, accounting, anti-fraud, and regulatory obligations, responding to subpoenas or government requests, and enforcing the Customer Terms, Captain Terms, and Platform policies.
3.10 Business Operations and Corporate Transactions
We may use personal information in connection with business operations such as audits, internal reporting, and risk management. If Reel Adventure Booking is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, personal information may be used and transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate confidentiality protections.
4. How We Share Information
Reel Adventure Booking shares personal information only as necessary to operate the Platform, facilitate Bookings and Trips, process payments and payouts, support compliance verification, maintain safety and integrity, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information to unaffiliated third parties for their independent marketing purposes without your consent.
4.1 Sharing With Captains and Operators
When a Customer submits a Booking request or confirms a Booking, Reel Adventure Booking shares relevant information with the applicable Captain or Operator so they can provide the Trip. This information may include the Customer's name, contact information, passenger count, Booking details, Trip preferences, meeting logistics, and any information the Customer provides regarding special requests or requirements.
Captains and Operators are independent businesses and control how they operate their services and handle information they receive. Captains and Operators are expected to use Customer information only for purposes related to the Booking and Trip delivery and to comply with applicable privacy and consumer protection laws. Reel Adventure Booking does not control how a Captain or Operator stores or uses information once it is shared outside Platform systems.
4.2 Sharing With Customers
Reel Adventure Booking shares certain Captain and Operator information with Customers to enable informed booking decisions and Trip coordination. This may include business name, listing information, Trip details, meeting instructions, general location information, and limited contact details where necessary to support Trip operations.
Reel Adventure Booking does not publish or share sensitive Captain documents such as full Merchant Mariner Credential files, identity documents, or full insurance policy documents with Customers unless required by law, necessary to address a safety concern, or separately authorized by the Captain or Operator.
4.3 Payment Processing and Stripe
Payments are processed through Stripe. When Customers pay through the Platform, payment information is collected and processed by Stripe. Reel Adventure Booking receives transaction confirmations, payment status, refund status, and limited payment references necessary to operate the Booking flow and provide support.
For Captains and Operators, Stripe Connect processes payout onboarding and payout routing. Stripe collects and stores banking and verification information in accordance with Stripe's policies. Reel Adventure Booking receives payout status and related transaction information necessary for Platform operations, fee administration, accounting, and dispute handling.
Where the Platform uses Stripe Identity, Stripe processes identity verification. Reel Adventure Booking receives identity verification status and related compliance indicators.
4.4 Service Providers and Vendors
We may share personal information with third-party service providers that perform services on our behalf, including hosting providers, database and infrastructure providers, analytics providers, customer support tools, email and marketing service providers, fraud prevention vendors, and compliance vendors.
These service providers are authorized to access personal information only to perform services for Reel Adventure Booking and are required to maintain appropriate confidentiality and security safeguards.
4.5 Legal Requirements and Protection of Rights
We may disclose personal information where we reasonably believe disclosure is required or appropriate to:
- Comply with law, regulation, legal process, subpoena, or governmental request.
- Enforce our Terms and Platform policies.
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of Reel Adventure Booking, Customers, Captains, Operators, or the public.
- Prevent fraud, security threats, circumvention, or misuse of the Platform.
- Respond to claims, disputes, or chargebacks.
We may also disclose information to law enforcement or regulators in connection with safety incidents, suspected unlawful activity, or regulatory compliance matters.
4.6 Business Transfers
If Reel Adventure Booking is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, dissolution, or sale of assets, personal information may be disclosed and transferred as part of that transaction. We will use reasonable efforts to ensure that any acquiring entity continues to handle personal information consistent with this Privacy Policy, subject to applicable law.
4.7 Aggregated and De-Identified Information
We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. This information may be used for analytics, reporting, business planning, marketing performance measurement, and Platform improvements.
4.8 Sharing at Your Direction
We may share information when you direct us to do so, such as when you choose to share contact details, send messages, provide optional information to a Captain, or use features that disclose information to other users.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Reel Adventure Booking uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Platform, improve performance, understand how users interact with the Platform, support security features, and deliver communications and marketing where permitted. This section explains what these technologies are, how we use them, and the choices available to you.
5.1 What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files placed on your browser or device when you visit a website. Cookies help websites recognize your device, remember preferences, and support core functionality such as login sessions and security controls.
We may also use similar technologies, including pixel tags, web beacons, SDKs, local storage, and server logs. For simplicity, this section refers to all of these technologies as cookies and tracking technologies.
5.2 Types of Cookies We Use
The Platform may use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies. These cookies are required for core Platform functionality. They support features such as authentication, session management, fraud prevention, load balancing, security protections, and page navigation. Without these cookies, the Platform may not function properly.
- Preference cookies. These cookies remember your settings and preferences, such as language preferences and certain user choices, so the Platform can provide a more consistent experience.
- Analytics and performance cookies. These cookies help us understand how visitors use the Platform, including which pages are visited, which features are used, how long sessions last, and whether errors occur. This information helps us improve performance, troubleshoot technical problems, and enhance usability.
- Marketing and advertising cookies. Where permitted by law and subject to your choices, these cookies help measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and may support delivery of promotional content. They may track interactions with marketing emails, blog subscriptions, or advertisements that direct users to the Platform.
5.3 Analytics Providers and Third Party Tools
We may use third-party analytics and performance tools to evaluate Platform usage and improve service quality. These providers may collect technical data such as device identifiers, browser type, session activity, and IP address. We use this information to understand performance, detect errors, improve features, and evaluate marketing effectiveness.
Where third-party tools are used, their collection and use of data may be governed by their own privacy policies, in addition to our contractual requirements for confidentiality and data protection.
5.4 How You Can Control Cookies
You have choices regarding cookies and tracking technologies. Depending on your device and browser, you may be able to:
- Adjust browser settings to block or delete cookies.
- Configure your browser to notify you when cookies are being placed.
- Use private browsing modes that limit certain storage.
- Control cookie preferences through any cookie banner or consent tool that may be presented on the Platform.
If you block or delete cookies, certain features of the Platform may not function properly. In particular, strictly necessary cookies are required for login sessions, account security, and certain checkout features.
5.5 Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers offer a Do Not Track signal. There is no universal standard for interpreting Do Not Track signals. As a result, the Platform may not respond to Do Not Track signals in a consistent manner across all browsers. Where applicable law requires specific handling of tracking preferences, Reel Adventure Booking will comply with those legal requirements.
5.6 Email Tracking and Marketing Measurements
Marketing emails and newsletters may include tracking technologies such as pixel tags that help us understand whether emails are opened and whether links are clicked. This information is used to measure engagement and improve communications. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe method provided in the email.
5.7 Cookie Retention
Cookies may remain on your device for different time periods depending on their function. Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser session, while others may remain until they expire or are deleted. We retain cookie-related data only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
6. Data Retention
Reel Adventure Booking retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the Platform, provide services, maintain business records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the safety and integrity of the marketplace. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information, how it is used, and whether the information is needed for compliance, security, or dispute purposes.
6.1 General Retention Principles
We retain personal information only for legitimate and necessary purposes. In determining retention periods, we consider factors such as:
- Whether the information is needed to provide Platform services and support active accounts.
- Whether the information is needed to support Bookings, Trip history, refunds, or chargeback handling.
- Whether the information is needed to investigate safety incidents, fraud, or misuse.
- Whether retention is required by applicable law, tax rules, accounting requirements, or regulatory obligations.
- Whether retention is needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
6.2 Booking, Transaction, and Account Records
We retain account registration information, Booking history, payment status records, refund records, payout records, and related transactional data for a period that is reasonably necessary for business operations and compliance. These records may be retained after a Booking is completed or after an account is closed to support accounting, tax reporting, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and enforcement of the Terms and policies.
Because payment disputes and chargebacks can be initiated after a transaction occurs, transactional records may be retained beyond the duration of an individual Trip.
6.3 Captain and Operator Compliance Documentation
We retain Captain and Operator documentation submitted for eligibility and compliance, including licensing credentials, vessel registration documents, and insurance documentation, for as long as reasonably necessary to:
- Maintain ongoing verification standards.
- Support audit and compliance review needs.

- Address disputes involving Trip operations.
- Enforce Platform requirements.
We may retain historical versions of such documents, including expired documents, where reasonably necessary for the purposes above.

6.5 Analytics and Technical Data
We retain technical logs, security records, and analytics information for a period reasonably necessary to:
- Maintain Platform performance and stability.
- Detect and respond to security incidents.
- Prevent fraud and abuse.
- Improve Platform features.
Retention periods for analytics and technical data may be shorter or longer depending on operational needs and legal requirements.
6.6 Marketing Subscription Data
If you subscribe to marketing communications or blog updates, we retain your subscription information until you unsubscribe or request removal, subject to retention needed for compliance with marketing laws and suppression lists. If you opt out, we may retain limited information necessary to honor your opt-out request and prevent future unwanted messages.
6.7 Deletion, De-Identification, and Account Closure
When personal information is no longer reasonably necessary, Reel Adventure Booking may delete it, de-identify it, or retain it in an aggregated form. If you request account deletion, we will process the request consistent with Platform functionality and applicable law, but you acknowledge that we may retain certain information, including transactional records, dispute records, compliance materials, and audit logs where retention is necessary to:
- Comply with legal obligations.
- Maintain fraud prevention and security controls.
- Resolve disputes and chargebacks.
- Enforce agreements and protect legal rights.
6.8 Legal Holds
If we receive a legal request, become aware of litigation, receive a regulatory inquiry, or identify a compliance issue requiring preservation of records, we may retain relevant information for as long as necessary to satisfy legal hold obligations.
7. Data Security
Reel Adventure Booking maintains administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, loss, and disclosure. We use security measures appropriate to the nature of the information processed and the risks presented by processing activities.
While we take reasonable steps to protect information, no method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be fully secure. You acknowledge that you provide and transmit information at your own risk.
7.1 Security Measures
Security measures we may use include access controls, authentication requirements, encryption in transit where supported, monitoring for suspicious activity, and operational controls intended to reduce the risk of unauthorized access. We also limit access to personal information to personnel and service providers who need access for legitimate business purposes, such as operating the Platform, providing support, performing compliance review, or processing transactions.
7.2 Payment Security and Stripe
Payment transactions are processed through Stripe. Reel Adventure Booking does not store full payment card numbers, security codes, or complete bank account numbers. Stripe collects and processes payment information through its own secure systems and security standards. Reel Adventure Booking receives limited transaction details and payment references necessary for booking confirmation, support, refunds, and accounting.
7.3 Document Security for Captain and Operator Submissions
Because Captains and Operators may upload licensing credentials, vessel registration documents, insurance records, and related compliance materials, Reel Adventure Booking applies safeguards intended to restrict access to those materials to authorized personnel and vendors supporting Platform operations, verification workflows, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
You are responsible for uploading documents only through approved Platform channels and for ensuring that the information you submit is accurate and appropriate for Platform use.
7.4 Monitoring and Incident Response
We may monitor Platform systems for security events, abuse, and unauthorized access attempts. If we become aware of a security incident involving personal information, we may take steps to investigate, contain, and remediate the incident. Where required by law, we may provide notifications to affected individuals and regulators.
7.5 User Responsibilities
You play a critical role in protecting your information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for restricting access to your account and devices. You should promptly notify Reel Adventure Booking if you suspect that your account has been compromised, that unauthorized access has occurred, or that a security issue may affect your use of the Platform.
You should also take reasonable steps to protect your communications, including avoiding sending sensitive personal information through unsecure channels outside the Platform.
7.6 No Guarantee of Absolute Security
Although we maintain safeguards designed to protect personal information, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration will never occur. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Reel Adventure Booking disclaims any responsibility for unauthorized access or security incidents that are not caused by the Platform's failure to implement reasonable security measures appropriate to the nature of the information.
