Appearance
- Olive brown color with a bronze tinge, lighter on sides
- Pale triangle and row of blue spots below the eye
- Canine teeth enlarged in upper jaw, visible when mouth is closed
Habitat
Coastal waters near structure. Juveniles are found in estuaries.
Behavior
Spawn from spring through fall. Known as night feeders, feeds on fishes and invertebrates.
